The Baker Family
Jimmy and Laureen Baker have served in Christian ministry for a number of years now. They have been married for over 20 years. Jimmy has served as a Private School Educator and Administrator. He also has worked with numerous Christian youth and children's camps throughout the United States. As Camp Nurse, Laureen provided healthcare to many at those same Christian youth and children's camps. Together, Jimmy and Laureen also served as Youth Pastors. During their time of service as Youth Pastors, they realized that God was calling them to step out further for Him as Missionaries. They responded by moving to Dallas for further training at Christ for the Nations Institute (CFNI). While there, God burdened their hearts for Native American missions - a forgotten mission field in many modern-day circles.
Jimmy and Laureen have traveled to Mexico for short-term missions trips, both separately and together. Their very first mission trip together became the founding of their friendship, which ultimately led to their marriage, three beautiful children, and the ministry that God has placed them in today.
Laureen grew up traveling from the time she turned four years old as a MK (Missionary Kid). She has lived in Canada, Portugal, Guinea Bissau, West Africa, and various portions of the United States of America. Laureen is a Registered Nurse. She has worked the majority of her 16-year Nursing career in ICU, Cardiovascular ICU, Heart and Lung Transplant or Triage. She gave up that career to become a missionary, although, her license and certifications remain in good standing. Laureen saw great needs - both spiritually and physically as a young child in Africa. She believes to meet one's spiritual needs without also caring for them physically is like caring only for half of a person. The heart of compassion, God's heart, cares for all needs. Laureen says that Missions is just in her blood and that this is what she was born to do: to care, to nurture, and to mend - not just physically, but also spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.
Jimmy has also traveled deep into the Amazon jungle as a part of his Summer Outreach Program while attending Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas. This trip had an immense impact on Jimmy as he learned so much from it. He will never forget the time he spent there.
Jimmy graduated in Spring 2012, with his Bachelor Degree from Christ for the Nations Institute. He has studied intensively in both Missions and Pastoral fields during his time at Christ for the Nations Institute.
Together, Jimmy and Laureen have three amazing children. Wesley, their son, loves the Lord. When he was in Kindergarten, he told the teacher he was going to be a Preacher. Since then, he has also thought strongly about pursuing storm chasing and Meteorology since he loves the weather and wants to protect others from harm. He also loves sports, video games, and playing Nerf with friends. Erin, their oldest daughter is sweet with an inner strength. Erin is very perceptive and her prayers have moved mountains! She is very creative and draws beautiful pictures. Erin can cook better than some adults too! She is growing into a graceful and beautiful young lady. Angelina, their youngest child, is an adventurer at heart. She loves to sing, draw and copy her hero, her big sister. If you don't know her yet, she will be your friend soon. She is a tiny, power-packed girl with a loving heart!
